A net unfolds a 3D shape into flat rectangles. To find surface area you find the area of each rectangle (length Γ width) and then add them all up. So this runs on area of a rectangle and adding several areas. Warm those up first.
These are words you'll need to already know to follow this lesson β not the new words the lesson teaches. Review each one, its meaning, and the example so the new lesson makes sense from the start.
Level 1 To add the same number many times to find a total.
Example: 4 Γ 3 means add 4 three times, which equals 12.
Level 1 How much flat space is inside a shape.
Example: A rectangle 4 long and 3 wide has an area of 4 Γ 3 = 12.
Level 1 A flat shape with four straight sides and four square corners.
Example: A door is shaped like a rectangle.
Level 1 To put numbers together to find a total.
Example: 6 + 6 + 8 adds up to 20.
These check the skills you'll need for this lesson β not the new lesson itself. Answer all 3, then press Show my path. No grade β it just suggests where to start.
1. Area of a rectangle that is 4 long and 3 wide?
2. Add the areas: 6 + 6 + 8?
3. Surface area is measured in which units?
Vocabulary previewed and basics checked. Time to start the lesson.
