The mean is the total ÷ how many numbers, the median is the middle of an ordered list, and the mode is the most common value. So you need three feeder skills warm: adding a list, dividing, and ordering numbers least to greatest.
These are words you'll need to already know to follow this lesson — not the new words the lesson teaches. Review each one, its meaning, and the example so the new lesson makes sense from the start.
Level 1 To put numbers together to find the total.
Example: 2 + 4 + 6 adds up to 12.
Level 1 To split a total into equal groups.
Example: 12 ÷ 3 means share 12 into 3 equal groups = 4.
Level 1 To line up numbers from smallest to biggest.
Example: Put 5, 2, 8 in order: 2, 5, 8.
Level 1 The number right in the center of an ordered list.
Example: In 2, 5, 8 the middle number is 5.
These check the skills you'll need for this lesson — not the new lesson itself. Answer all 3, then press Show my path. No grade — it just suggests where to start.
