Stretch: Turn a Question Statistical

I can explain why a question anticipates variability and rewrite a non-statistical question to make it statistical.

🧠 The Challenge

A statistical question anticipates variability: it is about a group, and the answers are expected to differ. You can often fix a non-statistical question by widening it to a group.

Example: "How tall am I?" (one answer) → "How tall are the students in grade 6?" (many answers — statistical).

✏️ Your Turn

0 of 3 checks complete

1. Which question best anticipates variability?

2. Rewrite "What is the price of this book?" to be statistical:

3. Why is "How old is the principal?" NOT statistical?

💬 Explain Your Thinking

Write a non-statistical question, then rewrite it to be statistical:

"Not statistical: blank. Statistical version: blank (it asks about a group, so answers vary)."
