Determine the Whole Given Part & Percent

Grade 6 Math · Unit 4 Interactive Practice Studio (6.AT.4) · Lesson 4-5
⭐ Progress: 0 / 42

Tab 1: The 1% Unit-Rate Bridge Method

If you know what part corresponds to a percentage, divide to find 1%, then multiply by 100 to find 100% (the whole).

Divide la parte entre el porcentaje para encontrar el 1%, luego multiplica por 100 para hallar el 100% (el total).
🌉 Part ÷ Percent = 1%  →  1% × 100 = Whole

Tab 2: Visual Tape Diagrams (Chunking to 100%)

If 25% is known, scale 4 equal chunks to reach 100%. If 20% is known, scale 5 chunks.

Si conoces el 25%, multiplica por 4 para llegar al 100%. Si conoces el 20%, multiplica por 5.
📏 25% is 1/4 of Whole → Whole = 4 × Part

Tab 3: The Division Equation (Whole = Part ÷ Percent)

Rearrange Part = Percent × Whole into Whole = Part ÷ Percent (as decimal).

Usa la ecuación inversa: Total = Parte ÷ Porcentaje (en decimal).
📝 Whole = Part ÷ Decimal (e.g. 24 ÷ 0.40 = 60)

Tab 4: Cafeteria Snacks & Word Stories (Reveal Math)

Work backward from partial survey data: 45% fruit, 30% cheese sticks, 25% veggie sticks.

Trabaja hacia atrás a partir de datos de encuestas: 45% fruta, 30% queso, 25% vegetales.
🥗 90 students = 30% of Total → Total = 300 students
