I can use a net to find the surface area of a 3-D figure by adding up its faces.

- A net is a 3-D shape "unfolded" flat so you can see every face.
- Surface area = the area of all the faces added together.

This net folds into a cube. Each face is a 2 × 2 square (area = 4):
A cube has 6 faces. Surface area = 6 × 4 = 24 square units.
