Stretch: Writing and Graphing Inequalities

I can write an inequality from a real situation and identify which numbers are solutions.

🧠 The Challenge

inequalityat least (≥)at most (≤)solution setopen / closed circle

An inequality has many solutions. "At least 18" → x ≥ 18 uses a closed circle (18 included). "More than 18" → x > 18 uses an open circle.

👀 Worked Example

"You must be at least 48 inches to ride." Let h = height: h ≥ 48. So 48, 50, 60 all work; 47 does not.

✏️ Your Turn

0 of 3 checks complete

1. "At least 10 points" (let p = points) is…

2. For x > 5, which number is NOT a solution?

3. "At most 3 hours" (let t = hours) is…

💬 Explain Your Thinking

Write a real situation and its inequality, then name two solutions:

"My situation: blank. Inequality: x blank blank. Two solutions are blank and blank."
