Tonight we work backwards: when we know a part and the percent that part represents, we find the whole amount it came from.

Percent × whole = part. When the whole is missing, divide the part by the percent written as a decimal.

Watch for: Listen for "the whole" (el total) — it is always the 100% amount, and it is what is missing tonight.
